Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo’s CEO, has announced that the successor to the Switch will be announced ‘this financial year’. This financial year ends at the end of March 2025, so the Japanese company will announce more about the next Nintendo console before then, although it is not yet clear what.
Furukawa announced the news on https://twitter.com/NintendoCoLtd/status/1787736518762881197. It is the first time that Nintendo has confirmed that it is working on a successor to the Switch. The console will be presented later this fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. The Nintendo CEO said that the company will hold a Direct event in June. The successor to the Switch will not yet be presented during this event, according to Furukawa.
There have been rumors about a successor to the Nintendo Switch for a long time. According to previous rumors, the console will be launched in early 2025. The Nintendo Switch was launched in 2017 and new games are still being released for the seven-year-old console. There was approximately five years between the previous Nintendo game console, the Nintendo Wii U, and the Nintendo Switch.
