18-year-old boy and 66-year-old woman died in an accident in Oudesluis. Victims come from Poland

A 66-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man died in the traffic accident in Oudesluis on Monday morning. Both are from Poland.

A 57-year-old woman from Poland was seriously injured, a 51-year-old Polish woman suffered minor injuries. The accident happened around 6:40 a.m. Monday morning.

The four ended up in the water after a collision with another vehicle on the Grote Sloot. The driver of that car, a 41-year-old man from Anna Paulowna, was not injured. A truck driver with a crane lifted the vehicle out of the water with the help of bystanders who entered the water. Emergency services and local residents and passers-by on the shore then provided first aid.

The victims were rushed to hospital. Two of the four occupants died there. It is not known which part of Poland the women and man came from and who the driver was.

Police are still looking for a key witness. This blond-haired man, aged around forty, confronted the occupant about the use of lights that had not been switched on.

At the roundabout near the crematorium in Schagen, the man stopped his vehicle in front of the victims’ car, got out and walked towards the driver. The driver then switched on the lights and both cars drove on. The police are looking for this particular witness who drives a gray station wagon.
