The police have arrested a 76-year-old man from Sint Pancras for possible involvement in the death of the man who was found yesterday at a home. Police believe he died as a result of a crime. It is almost certainly a former council member Henry Early.

A spokesman for the police says that they tracked down the suspect after investigation and that he was arrested today. He is currently in custody.

She is not yet making any statements about the further circumstances, nor can she confirm for reasons of privacy that it concerns Hendrik Vroegop. But several people involved in the village confirm his death. His body was found on Wednesday afternoon at his home on Broeckerhoek in Pancras.

Hendrik Vroegop is a former council member and ‘horse man’. A striking Pancrasser, as Vroegop was often called, writes Dijk and Waard Centraal.

He was a councilor, but his great passion was equestrian sports. Vroegop was on the market with various articles, visited equestrian events and ran a shop with horse supplies on the Bovenweg for a long time.

Social media is shocked by the situation. “Oh dear. I worked for this man from the age of 13 to 20,” someone writes. Another: “He was a special man. Rest in peace.”
