Omroep Flevoland – News – Boat owners are preparing for the summer: “Buy a boat, work to death!”

--

The water sports season officially started on April 1. This means that many sailboat owners are busy preparing their boat for the first sailing trip. In the Marina Muiderzand marina in Almere, several handymen were sanding, painting and carrying out repairs on Sunday.

“I would have preferred to be in the water with the boat, but we discovered some holes in the underwater hull,” says a sailor. “It really is a huge job and we have already been working on it for six weekends.”

Another handyman from the Achterhoek is working on a classic sailing boat together with his brother-in-law. “Tomorrow the mast will go up and next week we want to make our first sailing trip.”

Several handymen were also busy preparing their boats in Lelystad Haven on the Oostvaardersdijk. For example, there was a German couple from Cologne who were rolling their boat in light blue and a man from Muiderberg who was applying antifouling to his underwater hull.

“It’s always a lot of work to get things in order,” says the Muiderbergen resident. “I want to be out of here at the end of May and then we will go out to sea towards the Baltic Sea and Sweden. But let’s get on with it first. Buy a boat and it will kill you!”
