The employee of the Mondriaan mental health institution in Heerlen who was stabbed during her work last Monday, died in hospital on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old woman, a nurse specialist at Mondriaan, was transferred to Heerlen hospital after she was stabbed. Here she fought for her life for a week. But she ultimately lost that battle.
Before the stabbing, the suspect and victim met in Mondriaan’s canteen. Later she was stabbed outside on the grounds of the mental health institution in front of several witnesses. There are camera images from both inside and outside.
The suspect in this case is a 29-year-old woman from Brunssum. She invokes her right to remain silent and is suspected of attempted murder or manslaughter and must appear before the court chamber on Thursday. The suspicious woman lived on the grounds near Mondriaan in the so-called Skaeve Huse, a type of housing for people who cannot be maintained in regular houses.
The residents here usually have a psychiatric or addiction history. The suspect and victim in this case knew each other from a previous treatment relationship.
