As of today, entrepreneurs in The Hague with an anniversary of 50 years, or a multiple of 10 or 25 years above, can apply for a special award from the municipality.
With the award, the municipality wants to thank entrepreneurs for their hard work and commitment during this specific milestone in their business, an anniversary. The initiative for the award came from municipal councilor Ralf Sluijs of Hart voor Den Haag. The ‘Entrepreneurs are Worth Their Gold’ award is especially for entrepreneurs. Both entrepreneurs and company employees can apply for the award. It is also possible to apply for the award if the company closes down after more than 40 years.
Applications for the award must be made at least three months in advance. The award is presented during a company party or special occasion. It is not possible to apply for the award retroactively.
The new award is only intended for entrepreneurs and not for foundations. The municipality has other options for this, such as the City Medal.
Honorary print
The award is a physical print of honour, made by the Hague illustrator Boy Boelhouwer. The medal of honor will be presented by the mayor, a councilor or district director during a company party or other special moment. The municipality also puts the company in the spotlight with a beautiful photo and a portrait on the municipal social media channels.
