With a ‘Bureau Safety & Integrity (BV&I) to be established at the end of 2024, the Tax Authorities want to do more to make the organization more resilient to criminal undermining. This is one of the measures that State Secretary Van Rij of Finance mentions in a letter to the House of Representatives.

The research report promised to Parliament on improving resilience within the service by KPMG is also discussed. In addition to our own security agency, this involves measures such as further improving user registration – logging – of applications used by employees of various service units and by strengthening the screening of internal and external personnel. At the end of 2022, the Tax Authorities were confronted with various concrete signals of (possible) corruption and undermining within the organization. That is why the Tax Authorities have started the Tax Authorities’ Resilience Program (PWOB). KPMG concludes that there is still insufficient awareness of corruption risks among tax authorities.
