A local police officer in Lieshout is stunned by the discovery of deliberately processed nails found on the Beemdkant street in that village. These are so-called staples, U-shaped curved nails that you can hammer into a wooden surface.

At first, the police officer suspected that the staples had fallen off a load. “But then I got my hands on a found staple,” he said on Instagram. “This is a deliberately edited staple. It appears that it is intended to break vehicle tires.”

“I see this as a weapon.”

The police officer suspects that the clamps were placed there because of cut-through traffic or traffic that drives too fast. He understands that something like this is annoying. “But this is not a solution! Emergency responders also use this route and if they destroy their tires on the way to a resuscitation or serious collision… I don’t think I need to explain the consequences.”

That is why he addresses the perpetrator or perpetrators in his Instagram post. “I see this as a weapon, because serious collisions can occur if you get this in your tire. Stop this! We will certainly keep an eye on this and start an investigation if we find any more.”
