BERGEN OP ZOOM – The Netherlands celebrates the birthday of King Willem-Alexander today. And there is also a party in Bergen op Zoom. No one in the city will be bored today, because numerous activities are organized throughout the day. We list the activities in Bergen for you:
After King’s Night, King’s Day traditionally starts with the Flag Parade at 10 a.m. The city center has been transformed into a large free market since Friday April 26 at 5 p.m. This lasts until Saturday April 27 at 5 p.m. See below in which streets the free market will take place this year.

Wilhelminaveld
Just like last year, a large part of the party will take place on the Wilhelminaveld. Activities such as decorating bicycles will start at 10 a.m., but various performances will also take place. There are fairground attractions and games all over the field. This year, a Talent Stage has been built in Gebouw-T with all kinds of performances all day long. The party continues until 11 p.m.
Flag parade
In Bergen op Zoom, the Flag Parade starts at 10 a.m. on the Grote Markt. The Flag Parade is a ceremony in which honor is paid to the Dutch flag. At the Flag Parade, the Dutch tricolor is hoisted and this is preceded by a short ceremony. This ceremony involves several military commands, which are given by the parade commander.
Active duty military personnel, off-duty military personnel, as well as veterans are particularly invited to participate in the Flag Parade. The dress code for military personnel is DT2 and for veterans the uniform that is customary for veterans. Participants must be present at the Grote Markt no later than 9:45 am.
Following the flag parade, the municipality of Bergen op Zoom will organize a meeting in the Hofzaal of the Markiezenhof until around 12 noon, where all interested parties from the municipality are welcome. Mayor Mulder will toast our Royal Couple. In particular, (former) decorated people from Bergen op Zoom are called upon to be present and visibly wear their decoration. The decorated people from Halsteren and Lepelstraat are traditionally invited by the Orange associations from these village centers in the morning for a meeting in the Old Town Hall in Halsteren.
