Eva from ‘Over My Corpse’ stops treatment: ‘Most difficult choice ever’

Eva

At the end of January, Eva started a new course of the antibody amivantamab. She has to go on a weekly drip for this, but that has caused her serious problems, she writes. ‘My fatigue and side effects from this treatment are really bothering me. This treatment is just too much for me, I’m sacrificing more and more and I’m mostly done with that. Continuing like this is really not an option for me. How else am I going to get chemo and radiation in this state?’

In consultation with her doctor, it was decided to stop the treatment for the time being. ‘Instead, they are going to do extensive blood tests to see if there are other causes that are giving me this extreme fatigue.’ In two weeks she will discuss how to proceed. ‘Are you taking treatment again? Have I recovered or should I just start chemo? Or just look at quality of life?’

Pride

It is especially a difficult choice because she does want to move on mentally, Eva shares. ‘It feels like giving up and failing to me, but my doctor said to put that out of my mind. Many other people couldn’t even handle so many different treatments. I am very proud of myself, but this is also the most difficult choice I have ever made.’
