Former American president Donald Trump has been fined $9,000 (8,400 euros) for failing to comply with his gag order in the hush money lawsuit. American media report this.

Judge Juan M. Merchan has imposed a gag order on Trump in the case surrounding the hush money that the former president allegedly paid to porn actress Stormy Daniels for an affair. Trump should not insult witnesses, prosecutors or jurors.

Merchan determined on Tuesday that Trump violated the gag order by posting messages on social media and on his campaign website. He still insulted witnesses and jurors.

The judge’s decision comes after prosecutors in the criminal case argued last week that Trump’s statements about witnesses, prosecutors and jurors pose a “threat” to the legal process. They filed ten charges, of which the judge decided on Tuesday that nine of them were indeed violations of the gag order.

Trump must remove the nine messages from his social media and campaign website. Merchan has also warned that if Trump continues to make these types of violations, he could face jail time.
