1 – 0

Advantage for Dortmund. In a swirling Westfalenstadion, the Germans beat PSG by the smallest margin. The fact that Niclas Füllkrug scored the only goal just after the half hour mark can be regarded as a small miracle. Both teams missed enormous opportunities to take control of the match. The return will take place in Paris next week.

Borussia Dortmund – PSG in a nutshell:

  • Key moment: An unprecedented number of chances for a semi-final in the Champions League, but only one of them was converted. And how! After a wonderful take on a deep ball, Niclas Füllkrug defeated Donnarumma with a tight shot into the short corner. A class goal.
  • Man of the match: What a match from Jadon Sancho. The Manchester United loanee won the most duels, performed the most successful dribbles and also created the most chances. With a little more efficiency from his teammates, he would also have had at least two assists to his name.
  • Remarkable: The Singal Iduna Park with the famous Gelbe Wand is unparalleled. It is increasingly becoming an impregnable fortress in the Champions League. Dortmund has now been undefeated at the champions ball for 11 home games in a row. Never before has it achieved such a strong series.

Füllkrug brings Signal Iduna Park into ecstasy

After more than 11 years, Borussia Dortmund stood again in the semi-finals of the Champions League and that caused unbridled enthusiasm among the home team. Inspired by the vibrant atmosphere in the Signal Iduna Park, Dormund immediately showed off.

Sturm und Drang did not produce many clear-cut opportunities, although Donnarumma did need an excellent save after fifteen minutes when Sabitzer was able to lash out from an acute angle.

The German storm gradually subsided and Paris Saint-Germain increasingly took control. Without causing any danger, the Parisians did not get a single ball between the posts in the first half.

Ten minutes before half-time, Dortmund suddenly struck with a class flash from Füllkrug. The German striker beautifully plucked a deep ball from Schlotterbeck out of the air with his right hand and six steps later he scored the 1-0 in the short corner with his left. Hernandez trumped and also defeated Donnarumma. The Dortmund fans went crazy.

With peace in mind, PSG escaped worse. This time Füllkrug took on the role of declarant and made a good pass for Sabitzer in the box. He could decide from close range, but again found Donnarumma on his way.
