The Ghent security company Aikido is raising money again six months after its seed round. The company wants to use the 17 million dollars to grow internationally.

Aikido is not a classic security guard. It targets SMEs that want to secure their applications. Their platform checks code and cloud security, among other things, so that smaller players can also ensure that their applications comply with legislation and standards regarding security.

Things are moving quickly for the company. At the beginning of 2023, the company started investing two million euros with several Flemish tech entrepreneurs. Less than six months ago, the company raised 5.3 million euros in a seed round.

This is now being supplemented with 17 million dollars (15.85 million euros) led by Singular.vc, but previous investors Notian Capital and Connect Ventures are also participating again. Aikido claims to be the fastest capitalized startup in Belgian history.

With the fresh capital, Aikido wants to further expand its platform, but also grow internationally. It has also gained experience with this in a very short time. Just a month ago it announced that it has Visma as a customer, with all 170 subsidiaries of the Norwegian company using its Software Composition Analysis tool.
