Real estate magnate Wim Bulten (61) from Oostwold (Westerkwartier) was found dead in one of his homes on Monday. The police do not assume a crime for the time being, but are investigating the Prinsesseweg in Groningen where he died.

Several sources confirm this to Dagblad van het Noorden and Stadsblog Sikkom.

Bulten is the owner of Bulten Vastgoed and is one of the largest pawnbrokers in Groningen. The police confirm that a deceased man was found at this address, but would not say who it is. “There is no reason to believe that it is a crime, but we can only do a proper investigation once and we do that to rule out a crime,” said a spokesperson.

No more contact with Bulten after 11 hours

It is not yet clear what exactly happened to Bulten. On Monday morning he entered one of his buildings on the Prinsesseweg just after 9 am. His car has been parked outside the door all day. After 11 o’clock it is no longer possible to contact Bulten.

A resuscitation call came in for the same address just after 2 p.m., after which the police and ambulance rushed to the spot, but also left without any injuries. Later the forensic police arrived.

Wim Bulten was one of the most famous real estate entrepreneurs in Groningen. He quickly built his empire, because he was a farmer until he was 32. About 30 years ago he got into real estate and now works with his children. He owns dozens of properties and accommodates approximately 2000 tenants. His net worth is estimated at around 80 million euros.
