The book on which the miniseries was based is now getting a sequel and will also be made into a film.

Laura Dave’s book ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ was a bestseller and became a seven-part miniseries starring Jennifer Garner. The second book will be released in 2025, after which the second season of the series will premiere.

Garner plays Hannah, who goes in search of her suddenly disappeared husband with her stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice). The overwhelming response to the first book gave Dave inspiration for a sequel.

New source material

Hannah’s disappeared husband Owen is played by NIkolaj Koster-Waldau, who made his international breakthrough as Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones. The mysterious note he leaves for Hannah is the start of the story.

In other words, the makers are awaiting the new source material, which will then be brought to the screen. No further details have been given at this time regarding the start of filming.

No plans

In an interview with EW last year, Dave indicated that she initially had no plans for a sequel. Dave: “It was a closed chapter for me. But the questions I received from readers made me think about possible answers”. Further details about the sequel are not yet known, but we will of course keep you informed.

The Last Thing He Told Me can be seen on Apple TV+.
