In Coppens code two duos of famous Dutch people have to escape from an escape room under the watchful eye of the Flemish presenters Staf and Mathias Coppens. For last night’s episode, a palatial escape room was built, in which rapper Donnie and folk singer Ammar competed against magic duo Steven and Jamie Kazán. Donnie and Ammar in particular caused a lot of hilarity among viewers.
Also last week Coppen’s codes viewers double for the program. Folk singer John de Bever in particular made the viewing public laugh with his poor hearing and dry comments.
Royal escape room in Code van Coppens
“We have very bad news to report,” presenter Mathias Coppens begins the episode. “His Majesty the King is in very bad shape,” adds co-host Staf Coppens. Fortunately, the saviors of the homeland are nearby: Donnie and Ammar on one side and Steven and Jamie on the other.
Mathias is curious whether Donnie and Ammar are as good at games as they are at singing. “I can mainly sing very well when technology is involved,” Donnie grins. “So I guess the games.” Ammar also has a lot of confidence in it. The folk singer thinks he and Donnie are “100 percent” a good team.
The Coppens brothers explain today’s assignment. The teams are allowed an audience with the king. His Majesty is dying and they must get his still beating heart to a medicine man’s hut as quickly as possible. If they cannot save the kingdom, the Netherlands will be attached to Belgium. “Wow, then we really have to do our best,” says Ammar. The presentation duo laugh that Belgium isn’t really looking forward to it either.
Viewers raved about Donnie and Ammar
The escape room turns out to be a hilarious and exciting adventure, with both teams regularly in stitches. Both Donnie and Ammar as well as Jamie and Steven Kazán ultimately saved “the existence of the Netherlands”. But those who were fastest won. Donnie and Ammar fall into each other’s arms when it turns out that they were just a little faster than Steven and Jamie.
Viewers say on X that they thoroughly enjoyed the broadcast. “I don’t know any program that puts as much energy and effort as Code van Coppens. A surprise every week.” Donnie and Ammar were especially popular. Several viewers think they deserve their own show on the air. “The new Geer and Goor have risen: SBS6, give Ammar and Donnie a contract!”
