The new season of the Australian version of ‘Farmer Seeks Woman’ has only just started, but there is already a wild rumor going around. One of the four farmers may have gotten one of his candidates pregnant during the recordings. The Australian press relishes the gossip and makes extensive use of it.
“It would be a huge plot twist”
The rumor is quite vague: it is not clear whether the candidate actually became pregnant. A source close to the show shows New Idea know that one of the farmers had an intimate night with one of his candidates during the recordings. The woman then suspected that she was pregnant, after which she took a pregnancy test.
The source is not sure if the test was positive or negative. “But if that were the case, it would be a huge plot twist,” the source said. “It certainly happens that someone has a child together after the end of the show, but during the show? That has never happened.” It is not clear which farmer is involved, there are five farmers participating named Tom, Joe, Bert, Dustin and Dean.
The Australian Farmer Wants a Wife is apparently a lot spicier than our Dutch version. In season 11 of the show, a candidate also became pregnant, but by a different farmer than the one she signed up for. Hayley competed for Farmer Matt at the time, but after he sent her home, she decided to give Farmer Will a try. He had already chosen another woman at the time, but decided to have an affair with Hayley, resulting in an unwanted pregnancy.
Haley decided to break the big news during the reunion episode. Will wanted nothing to do with the pregnancy and broke off the affair. He even questioned his paternity. “If this is really my child, I will be there when the child needs me. Even if we are not a couple as parents,” he responded. “When the time comes, I will be the best father I can be.” Hayle was ultimately left as a single mother.
