The fictional crime drama about novice cops in the Northern Irish capital Belfast comes from the makers of the true story The Salisbury Poisonings.

The police series Blue Lights was a huge hit at the BBC last year and the drama will soon premiere at the NPO: from June 1 you will see a double episode of the six-part first season every Saturday on NPO 3. Blue Lights follows a number of inexperienced officers who work in the police force in the Northern Irish capital Belfast. Sian Brooke (Trying) portrays officer Grace Ellis, who exchanged her job as a social worker for a job with the police but now doubts whether she made the right choice. The other rookies are played by newcomers Katherine Devlin and Nathan Braniff. John Lynch (The Fall) has a supporting role as crime boss James McIntyre. Blue Lights comes from the screenwriters of The Salisbury Poisonings and the producers of Line of Duty and Marcella. The second season is currently available weekly on BBC One and the series has already confirmed a third and fourth season.
