The news hit fans of ‘A house full of emigrates’ hard. The Jelies family would no longer be seen in a second season of the television series. “We’re not saying we’re going to stop completely. We are taking a year of rest for now,” says Janneke.

KRO-NCRV and producer Mediawan Skyhigh issued a press release a week and a half ago stating that the family will focus on ‘new adventures’. Janneke explains: “We are currently busy with the biography that is being written about us. Johan also wants to make more progress on his DIY projects, he is very busy and things are going slower than planned. Ultimately, we have to deal with the Spanish mentality: everything moves a little slower here.”

Disappointment

The reactions to the departure from the popular series are mainly disappointing. “Many find it very unfortunate and difficult to understand that we are stopping. There is also misunderstanding: viewers think that we just stopped, but this was of course decided after careful consultation, including with the children. We want a year of rest. Yet the children also think it is a shame; It’s always a treat when the camera people come by.”

There is a small consolation for fans: Janneke continues to write diaries on Facebook and Instagram, where she has 136,000 and 261,000 followers respectively. “Sometimes I skip a day, but that is not always well received,” says Janneke. “The followers are curious about how we are doing.” The amount of attention is currently overwhelming for the family. “We held King’s Day last week in a village further away. Every few meters we had our picture taken with people. That is absolutely impressive.”

The great recognition, also in Spain, makes a great impression on the Jelies family.

Holiday plans

Plans are currently being made for the summer holidays. “Jenny is going to the Netherlands for three months, Aida for two months. Both go to work on the Urkerboot. They are really looking forward to their stay in Urk and are happy when they return maos at the end of June, the whole family gets into their van and comes to the Netherlands for four weeks. That will be a reunion with family and friends. “Johan goes one maot help and there are already some family days planned. We’re still going to be busy,” Janneke laughs.

The Jelies children are thoroughly enjoying themselves in Spain.
