Another familiar face on Tuesday evening in ‘Kees van der Spek: Scammers Tackled’. Marian from ‘B&B Vol Liefde’ was robbed a few years ago and even threatened with death. Because the police in Portugal do nothing, she decides to enlist the help of the crime reporter. And with success: at the end of the episode, Marian comes face to face with her shady former employee.

“She asked Fabio to kill me”

Marianne explains that her nightmare started in 2020. At the time, she was running her own real estate agency in Portugal and was under the impression that she and her employees were a ‘family’. “I had a manager and confidante in the office who I saw as my daughter. I don’t have children of my own, so I trusted that girl.” Yet at some point Marian felt an unpleasant feeling. “I didn’t get my bank statements back on time and there was an excuse every time.”

Marian finally decided to visit the woman at home, after which she admitted on the spot that she had stolen no less than 90,000 euros from the B&B Full of Lovestar had stolen. “She had a breakdown and was very nervous,” Marian reflects. The woman said that she had stolen the money for her boyfriend Fabio and that she had no other choice at the time: he threatened to kill her parents if she did not come up with the money. Marian felt sorry for the woman and also understood that she was afraid. She even offered her a place to sleep in her villa so she could relax.

The woman declined the offer, but promised to pay back all the money. Marian believed her, but soon discovered that the problem was different. It turned out that her maid also had a thing for Fabio, who told Marian something completely different. Not Fabio, but her own employee turned out to be the one with murder plans. “She asked Fabio to kill me,” Marian explains.

The worker even had screenshots of WhatsApp messages sent to Fabio by her employee at the time. Marian immediately saw that it was serious and decided to call the police. However, to this day they seem to be of little use to her. Her employee is still at large and has not yet paid her back a cent.

When Kees asks Marian what she still hopes to achieve, she indicates that she has let go of the money. “I will never get that money back. But I would like it if she were confronted with the situation and explained why she did it.”

Marian’s wish partly comes true: Kees manages to track down the woman and even gets her in front of his camera. However, the woman has a very protective boyfriend with her, who forbids Kees and Marian to say anything to her. He indicates that they should contact the woman’s assistant. Kees doesn’t feel like it and confronts her with the messages she sent about the murder plans. Did she actually want Marian dead? The woman remains tight-lipped.

Although she was not really able to talk to her ex-employee, Marian is still happy with the confrontation. “I may not achieve anything financially with it, because I don’t think I will ever get it back, but I do think that she will now have the same sleepless nights that I had. She really doesn’t sleep well anymore and that is nice.” “, she concludes.

Kees finally manages to get a scoop out of Marian. He asks her about her new boyfriend, after which she makes a few striking revelations. “I’m starting to love him,” she admits. “It’s a slow process, but the more I see him, the more I appreciate that he is a sweet man.” When Kees asks her how old the man in question is, she admits that there is a considerable age difference. “He’s 56.” Kees then jokes that she is a ‘cougar’.

Marian previously said that the whole drama has made her want to get rid of her B&B in Portugal:

Kees van der Spek: Scammers tackled can be seen every Tuesday at 8:30 PM on RTL 5.
