Nathan Vandergunst, as he is actually called, denounced in an internet video last year the low sentences for the participants in the failed hazing in 2018. 20-year-old engineering student Sanda Dia succumbed to poisoning and hypothermia after thirty hours of humiliation and hardship in Vorselaar near Antwerp.

The perpetrators, all from wealthy circles, received community service and fines and therefore no criminal record. They should not get away with that, thought Acid, who named the students in the video.

Earlier this month, Sanda Dia’s father told his story to Humberto Tan. You can watch that conversation here.

The said students objected. One of the students was not present at the hazing, but became the target of popular anger after the video. Just like his parents’ star restaurant. He went to court, who gave Acid a suspended prison sentence last month. The vlogger must also pay a fine and compensation of 20,000 euros.

He quickly raised that amount through crowdfunding, and the amount even rose to more than €100,000. Acid promises to give what remains to Sanda Dia’s father.

Eating mice

Sanda had to drink liters of gin during his initiation. When he lay intoxicated in the corner, the Reuzegommers urinated on him. A day later the boy was taken to a log cabin, where he had to spend hours in a self-dug pit. It was also filled with ice-cold water. He also had to eat mice and goldfish.

This is how YouTuber Acid responded to Belgian media after hearing his conviction:
