737 in collision with dogs

--

A Boeing 737-800 collided with a group of dogs in Bolivia. The aircraft aborted departure and returned to the gate.

Last Wednesday, a 737 from Boliviana de Aviacion (BoA) was about to depart for a domestic flight from La Paz to Cochabamba (Bolivia). However, during take-off the aircraft collided with a group of dogs on runway 28. The crew refrained from leaving and returned to the gate. The passengers eventually arrived at their destination with a three-hour delay.

It is unknown exactly how the collision could have happened. South American airports are generally known for having very strict controls due to drug smuggling. The airline revealed that a group of dogs entered the runway just as the plane was about to take off.

The device itself suffered damage to the chassis and other parts at the bottom. It was on the ground for several hours but is now operational again. The passengers were all unharmed. They were flown to their destination on another plane, where they arrived three hours later than planned.

Collisions with animals are becoming more common. Usually it concerns birds that end up in the engines. In one case this even happened with a fish.
