A former American Airlines flight attendant has been charged with “attempted sexual exploitation” and possession of child pornography.

In January this year, the 36-year-old cabin member was arrested after he secretly installed a camera in an airplane toilet when a 14-year-old girl wanted to use it. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced last Friday, according to the Boston Herald known that he has been charged for this. In addition, the former steward is said to be in possession of child pornography in which one underage teenage girl was seen.

Camera on airplane toilet

During a flight from Charlotte to Boston, the flight attendant had… NBC Boston placed an iPhone on the toilet. The 14-year-old girl, who had partially undressed, had to go to the toilet during the flight. The 36-year-old cabin member told the young passenger that she could use the toilet in first class because it was empty. Before the 14-year-old went inside, the man had to “wash his hands” and said that “the toilet seat was broken.” There were red stickers on the toilet with clues to, among other things, the broken glasses. The steward is said to have secretly hidden his iPhone under those stickers to film the girl.

As the 14-year-old prepared to leave the bathroom, she noticed an iPhone sticking out from under the red stickers and the cell phone’s flash lit up. The girl took a photo on the iPhone and told her parents what happened to her. She was said to have been ‘visibly shaking’ when she informed another cabin member about the incident. The girl’s father allegedly confronted the man. The former flight attendant reportedly sat on the toilet for another three to five minutes.

Finds

At Boston Logan Airport, police said the 36-year-old flight attendant’s phone may have been reset to factory settings and found the red stickers in his suitcase. Prosecutors allege according to WLBT that child sexual abuse, generated by artificial intelligence, has been found on the former flight attendant’s iCloud account. He could face a prison sentence of 15 to 30 years, but being in possession of images of sexual abuse could result in up to 20 years in prison. American Airlines previously said the man was “immediately removed from service” and has not worked since the discoveries on his phone.
