King Mohammed VI called for an immediate, lasting and complete cessation of attacks on the Also read: Gaza Strip. The monarch, who is also chairman of the Al-Qods Committee, stressed the need for the passage of humanitarian aid throughout the Palestinian territory.

In his speech, which was read by Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq, the King spoke out against the “brutal aggression” against Gaza. He described the situation as of extreme severity and an affront to humanity, made worse by the increase in attacks by extremist settlers in the West Bank, egged on by Israeli government officials.

Mohammed VI condemned the practices that seek to change the legal and cultural character of the Holy City of Jerusalem and expressed his categorical disapproval of all forms of forced displacement, collective punishment and revenge attacks against Palestinians. He called on influential states to take their historic responsibility and actively work to end this catastrophic situation, so as to break the cycle of violence and promote a two-state solution.

The King also highlighted Morocco’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza and Al-Quds, in cooperation with Egypt through the Rafah crossing. He praised the activities of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods agency, which despite challenges, has implemented socio-economic projects and support to hospitals in the region.
