From an atmospheric bedroom to a warm space with a Middle Eastern atmosphere

--

Wim and Lien from Nijkerk love coziness, but that atmosphere was hard to find in their bedroom. The room is quite large and high, which quickly makes it feel bare, cold and unpleasant. They enlist the help of Patrick and Jasper from Eigen Huis & Tuin: Lekker Leven.

Wim and Lien moved to their lovely home in Nijkerk six years ago, where they really enjoy it. But they are still missing something in the bedroom. It is a beautiful space with a sloping, but very high ceiling and an adjacent open room where the wardrobes are located. But something very important is still missing: atmosphere! It is therefore up to handyman Patrick Uphoff and interior stylist Jasper Burg to add some warmth and coziness.

The bedroom before the metamorphosis.

The plan

Because Wim and Lien love to travel – the Middle East in particular – they would also like to reflect this in their renovated bedroom. That is why Jasper has chosen warm colors that fit perfectly with this theme. ‘Small influences, but not all the way and with a modern touch.’ The base has been chosen for some soft purple tones, supplemented with warm earth tones. The high, sloping ceiling wall got some bling in the form of gold-colored wallpaper. But the real highlight of the room is of course the custom-made headboard and bed frame with an Arabic arch with niches.

The arch and the gold-colored wallpaper are extra beautifully highlighted – literally – with an invisible LED strip that is attached behind the arch.

Playing with daylight

Jasper also chose matching curtains with a warm and subtle bronze-colored fabric. Jasper opted for both a translucent sheer curtain and a blackout curtain. This allows you to easily play with light and it gives a rich feeling to the room.

Modern touch

Although there was already an Arabic-themed hanging lantern in the old room, it had not yet come into its own. In the new room it would have fit in well in terms of theme, but other lamps were chosen, precisely to give the room a modern touch. Two spherical hanging lamps were chosen, made of smoked glass. The lamps hang at different heights, which provides a playful touch and it emphasizes that beautiful height even more.

Art as a guideline for the use of color

Do you find it difficult to choose the right colors and don’t know how to bring them back into the room? Jasper has a good tip for that. He chose two beautiful wall circles that formed the basis for the colors in the room. In this case, the paintings mainly have warm earth and terra tones, with some subtle purple tones. He then brought all those colors back into the room, on the walls, in the furniture and accessories. The other way around is also possible: as a finishing touch, choose a painting based on the colors that the room already has.
