The Dutch artist Rajacenna Van Dam (31) is currently taking on a tough challenge. In a museum in Vlaardingen, visitors can follow how she paints ten works at the same time with her hands and feet. Her paintings are part of an exhibition about Vlaardingen women.

Rajacenna’s painting skills can also be followed via a livestream. It shows how she conjures up a self-portrait, a panda with glasses, an astronaut and seven other works on the canvas. “I constantly shift my concentration between all the paintings,” says the Dutch woman. “Five years ago I started painting with two hands, both for the challenge and to go faster. Then I discovered I was ambidextrous.”

When she also tried painting with her feet for fun, she promptly became an internet phenomenon. Videos of her works went viral, while orders for her paintings poured in. Major differences between the hand- and foot-painted works of art are not visible to the average art lover. “But I definitely see a big difference, as they are painted a little less precisely,” says Rajacenna.
