Veghel – A guitar orchestra is starting on the Noordkade in Veghel, will you join us? Do you play guitar or take guitar lessons?

Then making music with other guitarists in a guitar orchestra might be something for you. Participate now in five rehearsals and a performance during the Fabriek Magnifique festival.

As a member of this guitar orchestra you will learn to play together with others and your guitar skills will also improve. This makes playing the guitar even more fun and is a great addition to regular guitar lessons. In addition, you have contact with others who also share an interest in the guitar. The music that the guitar orchestra plays is very diverse. Old & new music from Spain, Brazil, or pop music from America. This allows you, as a member, to discover new music and play it during a performance.

Enthusiastic players with a reasonable to decent level are very welcome! There is no need to audition. Sheet music (notes and tablature TABS) will be sent to you in advance. This occasional orchestra is working towards a concert at the Fabriek Magnifique festival in five rehearsals. The guitar orchestra starts rehearsing on Sunday afternoon, May 26. Bookbinding exhibition: You make books yourself
Bookbinding is an age-old craft that is still practiced with great passion at Phoenix Cultuur. And that you can do much more with bookbinding than just repair a book, as the students of professional bookbinder Jos van den Berg show during their exhibition. Every year there is an enthusiastic group of people who come together at Phoenix Cultuur in the course of professional bookbinder Jos van den Berg to make their own books. They make very personal books that combine craft and creativity. The great thing about making a book is that you can hold the finished product. You can look at it from all sides. You can see, feel and smell the book. You can even enjoy the sound of browsing.

Making books starts very simply. In the first lesson, students learn to sew a notebook. They receive an explanation about the characteristics of paper, the tools required and what is possible with paper and cardboard. This is followed by the making of simple hardcover books.

Students get to know the various equipment present in the bindery, such as the book presses, sewing bench, board scissors and cutting machine. With these books, everyone can experiment with their own taste through the use of various materials and colors. Cardboarding is also discussed. After making a case for a self-made book, wallets are discussed. Here too, everyone can adapt the product to their own taste.

The exhibitors: Ton den Besten, Gert de Bruijn, Annelies Dollekamp, Judith Heijnsdijk, Peet Mangnus, Marianne Niemantsverdriet-van Goudoever, Corrie Schuijers, Jeanne Verhagen, Noor van Well and Cun Wijnen.

The exhibition can be viewed throughout the summer from May 6 to September 9 on the 1st floor of the Cultuurfabriek, on the CHV Noordkade in Veghel. Also interested in a bookbinding course? The new bookbinding course at Phoenix Cultuur starts on Monday, September 23. More information and registration for the new course season via www.phoenixcultuur.nl or call 0413-782010.
