Marktplaats comes with a new button for Direct Buy, this is how it works

--

Marktplaats is launching a new feature that can save you a lot of time when buying second-hand products. There will be one button to immediately purchase a desired product on Marktplaats. Waiting to see if you are the highest bidder is a thing of the past. But the new feature is not available on all products.

If you have ever bought something on Marktplaats, you are undoubtedly familiar with the procedure: you see a nice product, you look at the price and then make an offer. And then it’s a matter of waiting. Wasted time, some think, and that is why there will now be a button to purchase items directly. This means that as a buyer and seller you immediately know where you stand. Very handy, although some may soon miss the nostalgia of bidding?

One button for everything

With the push of a button, you will soon be able to bring that kitchen table into your home even faster, but above all, more worry-free. You arrange the purchase, payment and shipping in one go. It is therefore mainly intended for sellers (and buyers) who do not have time to waste with negotiations or are told afterwards that they were not the highest bidder after all. That may also open doors for other types of products that you want to have at home more quickly, such as that new television.

Only for deliverable packages

You will soon be able to receive a second-hand product more quickly, provided it can be delivered by parcel service, DHL or PostNL. This means that not everything can be provided with a Direct Buy button.

If you do not have a fixed price in mind or you cannot easily ship the product, you can still use the old-fashioned bidding system. In addition, purchases via the button are also automatically linked to Buyer Protection, so you as a buyer are not at risk from scammers or defective products.

Rollout starts in two weeks

Marktplaats seems to be aware of the competition and is responding to it with this new feature. “The Dutch consumer has become accustomed to being able to buy something online at the touch of a button. I am proud that we are now also bringing this e-commerce experience to Marktplaats,” says Florence Schmit, General Manager of Adevinta, the parent company of Marktplaats. .

The feature will be gradually rolled out within the platform over two weeks. So you may not see the option yet. So you’ll have to wait a little longer, but that will soon give you an acceleration.
