Google will pull the plug on the Google Fit APIs on June 30, 2025. Developers have also been unable to sign up for the health platform’s APIs since the beginning of May and are urged to switch to Android Health’s APIs.

Google writes in a blog post that it has invested a lot of resources in the Android Health platform in recent years. That health platform was announced in 2022 during I/O 2022 and should eventually replace Google Fit.

The American tech company has also published guidelines that should make it easier for developers to switch to Android Health’s APIs. From that guide, it appears that there is no Android Health API for the fitness goals feature yet. That was the case with Google Fit. It is not clear whether Google wants to introduce this API at a later date.

Google announced Android Health in 2022. Back then it was still called Health Connect. This is a digital platform that was developed together with Samsung and aims to bring together health and fitness data from various apps and sports equipment manufacturers. According to Google, the data collected via the Android Health platform will not move to the cloud. The data is reportedly stored encrypted on users’ devices.
