Heineken wants to become even bigger in the United Kingdom. The Dutch beer brand is investing more than 45 million euros (39 million pounds) in several of its own pubs.

Heineken has several thousand pubs in the UK under the name Star Pubs & Bars. The group now wants to reopen 62 branches that have been closed in recent years due to the corona pandemic. The brewer will also renovate more than 600 of the 2,400 locations in total.

Heineken notices that people are less and less likely to go to inner cities for a drink and a bar snack. That is why the company focuses mainly on renovating pubs located outside the inner cities.

The Star Pubs & Bars branches must meet various requirements to attract as many people as possible. That is why various sports are broadcast and people can dine in a quieter area.

Heineken’s major investment shows that the catering industry in the United Kingdom is recovering from the blow caused by corona and inflation.
