This crossover is secretly a shortened old acquaintance

3XO next to XUV300

Now that SsangYong is known as KG Mobility and has reintroduced itself in the Netherlands, the electric Torres EVX is the only car from the brand here. The Tivoli is no more, but far outside the Netherlands that car does have a striking new cousin.

Forget the old SsangYong range. The Korando e-Motion is no longer for sale here and the Tivoli and its longer XLV brother can no longer be ordered in the Netherlands. The brand now called KGM currently only carries the electric Torres EVX. However, within the next two years, KGM’s Dutch model range will be expanded with three new models. In their home country of South Korea, the old SsangYong models are still marketed as KGM, including the Tivoli. It is that Tivoli that is on the sidelines of the digital stage of this article. It gets a cousin: the Mahindra 3XO.

The SsangYong Tivoli, of which this 3XO is also a cousin.

Anyone who follows AutoWeek closely knows that we immerse ourselves every day in automotive curiosities that will never come our way. Not everything is worth highlighting, but this Mahindra 3XO manages to slip through our filter. The Indian colossus Mahindra already sold a crossover that strongly resembles the SsangYong Tivoli in the form of the XUV 300. That XUV 300 not only looks very similar to the Tivoli, it is secretly one. But then a shortened one. With a length of 3.99 meters, the XUV300 is considerably shorter than the 4.2 meter long Tivoli. The reason for the shortening: cars that are less than 4 meters long benefit from tax benefits in India. The XUV300 is now about four years old, but is not (yet) being replaced or renewed. He does get a variant next to him: the 3XO. It is striking that Mahindra is still launching a model based on the Tivoli, as Mahindra is no longer the owner of the former SsangYong.

The Mahindra 3XO is actually a thoroughly revised version of the XUV300 that will be sold as a separate model. You only recognize the Tivoli from the side, as the entire front and rear are new. It has a distinctly sculpted front with hook-shaped LED daytime running lights and headlights spread over two layers. On the back we also see many more corners and folds than before and the lighting is new here too. As the Autodesign Manual 2024 seems to dictate, the rear lights are visually connected. Everything is different in the 3XO: from the shape of the ventilation grilles to the entire center console and the displays. The small Mahindra can be equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and instruments with the same diagonal. Just like the XUV300, the 3XO is also offered with a 117 hp 1.5 diesel engine and with a 111 hp and 131 hp 1.2 petrol engines.

The Indian starting price – converted into euros – has been set at a modest €8,340. The 3XO will of course not come to the Netherlands, but we didn’t want to deprive you of this little cheeky rascal.
