Linda Hakeboom shares photo of long hair: ‘My hair has been short for so long and now we are here’ | RTL Boulevard

“My hair has been short for so long and now we are here,” Linda writes with a photo of her radiant with long hair. ‘For the first time I dare to see for myself that it really is long again.’ Linda lost her hair due to chemotherapy. ‘It’s very strange what being forced to go bald did to me… deep down I felt like I would have short hair forever.’

Linda was not necessarily negative about her short haircut. ‘It looked quite nice, I know, but of course it wasn’t my choice. If I ever cut it off again, it will (hopefully) be because I want to. And then I think it feels so different.’

Linda found it hard to swallow that her illness also had an effect on her appearance. ‘For everyone who is just before chemo: it is really bad that you also have to deal with this. You already have so much to process and then you also lose part of your appearance. It is of course not your biggest problem, but it is something you add to your already full plate.’

Now that everything is going a lot better for Linda, she notices how resilient her body is. “Once it comes back, you genuinely appreciate every hair that grows back. You become the biggest supporter of your own body through something like this. And there is something beautiful about that too. Just think about that.’
