Max Verstappen sought distraction on the ski slopes in Japan after the disappointing Australian Grand Prix. It is known that Red Bull Racing does not allow the Dutchman to test a MotoGP machine during his active F1 career, but it seems that his employer has no problem with him using the bars every now and then.

Earlier this week, Red Bull advisor revealed to the Austrian OE24 already that the three-time world champion had started skiing after the Australian GP. However, practicing this sport is not without risks and there is a risk of injury. And Red Bull, for example, does not allow Verstappen to put a MotoGP machine through its paces. When asked whether there is no such ban for skiing, Marko did not give a clear answer. “I’ve already given away too much,” said the Austrian.

At the F1 Tokyo Festival prior to the Japanese Grand Prix, Verstappen confirms when asked that he visited the snow last week, something the 26-year-old had also done during the winter period. ‘It was good. “I spent a week in Niseko skiing,” the Dutchman continues Motorsport.com quoted. ‘So I’ve been in Japan for a while. Now I’m spending a few days in Tokyo before going to Suzuka,” the three-time world champion added.

“If I have the chance, I try to do it,” Verstappen continues. ‘We had a week off between the two races. That’s why I thought: let me try something new. The snow is good and there is still a lot of snow,” said Verstappen, who always likes to come to Japan and hopes to win the Grand Prix at the iconic Suzuka circuit for the third time in a row this weekend.
