Jandino Asporaat was a ‘single father’ for two weeks: ‘I secretly liked it’ | RTL Boulevard

“Mom is back and dad has his life back,” Jandino jokes on Instagram. ‘All three children are still alive, including the dog. Also, all three of them still have almost all their limbs, as far as I know.’ His wife Shirley was recently in Curaçao for her own event. As she left, Jandino wrote on Instagram: “First day as a single dad.”

Now that Shirley is back, the comedian also seriously looks back on his time with the children. “I made a lot of jokes in recent days and at the same time I wanted to shine a light on all the parents/caregivers who put themselves aside every day to let the person they care for shine,” Jandino writes. ‘I come from a single mother, so I’ve seen how hard it is. I’m glad Shirley took her space and that gave me even more time with the kids.’

It wasn’t just tough for the comedian. ‘I secretly hope that she will do her own thing more often, she deserves that, and secretly I enjoyed being there every day.’ Jandino has also gained new insights. ‘Two weeks ago I would have sworn that I had a healthy balance between family and business and now I know: things can be even better.’

Combining parenthood with your own business is quite a challenge. ‘During many important business meetings in recent days I have uttered the sentence: ‘Guys, I have to get out for a while. I have to go change a poopy diaper.” Jandino looks back on the past period with a good feeling. “They were good days and I have jokes for the theater again.”
