On top of that he had private problems Gordon also had to suffer from all the criticism he had to swallow. He remained in the shadows for months, until he recently made his comeback.
He did this with ‘Album of my life’, a collection of covers that are close to his heart. Unfortunately, this also attracted a lot of criticism: among other things, he was accused of singing out of tune.
“The past year was very intense,” says Gordon in the podcast ‘Mischa!’. “If I had known everything in advance I would not have chosen this profession. It has destroyed everything. My friends, my family, my relationships, my private life, my anonymity…”
If he could do it all again, he would rather become a catering entrepreneur than a celebrity. “I completed my training as a chef with good grades and was the only one in my family to obtain my diploma. I was very proud of myself,” he says.
At that time he decided to participate in talent shows and discovered that he really enjoyed being in front of the camera. However, some 35 years later he concludes that it is not a nice world at all. “I have been so deeply disappointed, especially in the past year, in certain people. They promised me certain things and didn’t deliver. It’s tough as nails.”
