Fiona Harvey, who claims to be the person targeted by the stalker in Netflix Baby Reindeer is based, told her story in conversation with British talk show host Piers Morgan. According to her, she had no choice because she was attacked online and by telephone after the launch of the series. “I’ve received several death threats. It’s been horrible.”

Baby Reindeer tells the story of comedian and bartender Richard Gadd (33) who is confronted with stalking. According to Netflix, the series is based on true stories and messages that the streaming service has as evidence. What is special is that the stalked Gadd himself plays the leading role and thus relives his own traumas.

The stalker in the series is called Martha and is played by an actress. But the alleged ‘real’ stalker, Harvey, has spoken out now that the series has launched. She denies ever stalking Gadd.

58-year-old Harvey has not seen a single episode, she says in the recorded conversation with Morgan that was broadcast live on Thursday evening. “I’ve heard all kinds of things that weren’t true. I’ve only met him (Gadd, ed.) myself two or three times.” According to Harvey, the protagonist deliberately created the series to denigrate her. “That’s what he always wanted. This is slander. I think he has serious psychological problems.”

‘Reverse Reality’

She says the story that Harvey was an obsessive stalker who plagued Gadd’s life is the world upside down. She says that the bartender in particular was obsessive about her.

In the interview, the woman goes through a number of scenes with Piers Morgan, dismissing most of them as fictional. For example, Gadd would never have been to her home in real life and she would not have been to his either. Harvey would also not have sent tens of thousands of emails and thousands of text messages.

“That’s absolutely not true. I don’t think I ever sent him anything. Maybe just some funny emails. That’s all.” Morgan wonders where the makers of the series get the exorbitant numbers from. “Gadd came up with that himself,” Harvey responds. She says she has not previously been convicted of stalking and would never have physically attacked Gadd’s partner. “I’m not a stalker. It’s all made up.”

Harvey says he has never been contacted by Gadd or Netflix and wants to take legal action. “I would like to see the evidence from Netflix. I am 100 percent certain that I am not Martha and that she is a fictional character.”
