Joost and his internet hit ‘Europapa’ have now been overtaken by Ireland, which is in fifth place. Other countries above the Dutch entry are Ukraine, Italy, Switzerland and Croatia. On April 25, Joost had a 15 percent chance of winning. This has now fallen to 6 percent.
Some Eurovision experts cite the striking ‘blue bird’ that is on stage during Joost’s performance as the reason for the decline in popularity. Could it be that this means that Joost’s chances of winning have disappeared?
While bookmakers seem to be slowly losing confidence in the Dutch entry, music streaming service Spotify is singing in a completely different tone on Monday. The number of streams of all Eurovision Song Contest entries this year is by far the highest in the Netherlands. Videos featuring Joost are also by far the most viewed on TikTok and YouTube.
Meanwhile, Joost has great confidence in his Eurovision act all the time. He previously told RTL Boulevard that something like his act has ‘never been done before’. You can see more about that in the video below.
