The Spanish royal couple will come to the Netherlands later in April for a state visit. On Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April they will be received by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

Traditionally, a state banquet also takes place on the first evening of the visit. Amalia is also present for the first time in her relatively short existence as an adult member of the Dutch royal family.

A state banquet is an official dinner given by a head of state. Only invited guests may participate. The receiving monarch and the guest monarch often both give a speech during a state banquet about the ties between the two countries.

During the last state banquet in the Netherlands, in December last year, the menu included game stock. The royal couple, who then received the president of South Korea and his wife, also ate a steak with truffle gravy and dark chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream. It is not yet known what the Spanish royal couple will be presented with.

Recently there was news about the situation about the threats against Amalia. The princess is currently said to be living in Amsterdam, where she also studies. At first this was not possible because of threats to the Princess of Orange. You can see more about this in the video below.
