On King’s Day, parties and festivals are spread throughout the city. Small-scale and freely accessible events take place in the center. For the larger festivals you have to be outside the canal belt. Please note, a number of measures have been taken for King’s Day.

King’s Day celebrations in Amsterdam Center

Would you like to stand between the speakers on King’s Day? Then of course you have to know where to find it. The municipality of Amsterdam allows open-air stages and bars in a number of places in the city center. The Jordaan in particular is a well-known place for orange fun, with two stages, a line-up of cover bands and one of the best free markets in Amsterdam. Here you will find all stages in Amsterdam:

  • Amstelveld
  • Leidseplein
  • Nieuwmarkt
  • Reguliersdwarsstraat, between Koningsplein and Vijzelstraat
  • Rembrandtplein
  • Spit
  • Jordaan, on Westerstraat and Tweede Boomdwarsstraat
  • Marie Heinekenplein

The free events on these streets and squares take place from noon to 8 p.m. There is a maximum of 2,000 visitors, so you may sometimes have to wait at the crowd barriers until some people leave and you can go ‘in’.

Orange neighborhood parties

In many neighborhoods around the center, residents or catering entrepreneurs throw a party on King’s Day. Every year, the Terrasmus café in the Erasmus Park offers exotic snacks and Spanish-language music. On April 27, Vondelpark is the place where Amsterdam children show their singing or acting talents. And the residents of Watergraafsmeer are organizing the Bredeweg festival again this year with a music stage, bars and food trucks. These neighborhood parties are also suitable for children.
