Milan van Waardenburg plays the leading role in the musical Elisabeth | Book & Culture

“I am proud that Milan van Waardenburg will play this role,” says producer Albert Verlinde. “In recent years he has become one of the biggest musical stars.”

Van Waardenburg speaks of “a dream role” that has been on his wish list for a long time. “If there’s one role I want to come back from London for, it’s this one.” The musical star is currently starring in the musical Les Miserables on the West End.

In addition to Douwes and Van Waardenburg, William Spaaij also has a role to play. He plays Luigi Lucheni, Sissi’s murderer.

Elizabeth is about Sissi (Elisabeth) who becomes Empress of Austria at a young age through her marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph.

The musical will premiere early next year. This will be followed by a tour of the major theaters in the Netherlands.
