Fidan Ekiz is never allowed by Wilfred Genee to join Today Inside. Johan Derksen revealed this in Wednesday evening’s episode. It could all be due to a collision that Ekiz and Genee had years ago.
“There are quite a few people who died at this table,” Genee begins Today Inside. “I think of Sander Schimmelpenninck.” Derksen thinks that the presenter has himself to blame for this. “He got himself killed,” he adds. “If he portrays our target group as idiots, then you shouldn’t sit here.” Stella Bergsma’s name is also mentioned as someone who did not make it in the program.

Derksen then mentions Ekiz’s name. “But he has never sat with us,” Genee responds. Table guest and ex-husband of Ekiz Wierd Duk wonders whether she is still not allowed to come, to which Derksen answers that Genee does not want that. “Absolutely not,” agrees Genee. “Not in a hundred years!”
The basis for these fierce statements is the collision that Genee had with Ekiz in the summer of 2020. The presenter joined the talk show On 1 and was asked about the ‘black Pete’ joke that Derksen had made. Genee had publicly disapproved of the joke, but Ekiz felt he should have supported his colleague, after which the pair got into a heated argument. According to Media newspaper Genee also raged against Ekiz after the broadcast.
