You won’t see Joost Klein on stage tonight, but this first semi-final still has several Dutch touches. Tonight, Finland, Croatia and (for the first time in thirty years) Luxembourg will be on stage.

1. Cyprus – Silia Kapsis – Liar

At seventeen, Silia Kapsis is the youngest participant of 2024 and she can immediately kick off the Eurovision Song Contest. Her number Liar has a Dutch touch: Elke Tiel wrote the song for the Cypriot singer. Kapsis grew up in Sydney, Australia, and has been working on her own music since the age of 12.

2. Serbia – Teya Dora – Ramonda

3. Lithuania – Silvester Belt – Lukteach

Luktelk means something like ‘waiting’ or ‘on a break’. Although it sounds like a festive song, the lyrics are quite heavy, Silvester Belt previously said Wiwibloggs. “The song is about being stuck between two stages: between real life and just existing.” Belt draws inspiration from his own life: the singer grew up in what he considers a homophobic environment in which he did not dare to express his own feelings, but he did feel them.

Already posted: Germany – Isaac – Always on the run

Germany has also been part of the big five for years and is therefore certainly one of the finalists. This year Isaak will try to win for Germany. It would not have made much difference if the Dutch Bodine Monet had been their entry: the singer participated in the preliminary rounds in Germany, but did not reach the final there.

10. Finland – Windows95man – No Rules!

No rules, that’s what the gentlemen of Finland hope for. But the Eurovision Song Contest is infested with it and so the Windows logo had to be blurred out on the cap and T-shirt of one of the singers. There are still questions about the skin-colored underpants. By the way, this entry has a Dutch touch: one of the dancers, Jesse Wijnans, is Dutch.

This year, twins Marcus and Martinus will be on the podium for Sweden. They have already won a competition: in Sweden, the Melodifestivalen preliminary round is more popular than the Eurovision Song Contest.
