Frank van Etten, who everyone who has ever seen the inside of a beer shack knows from “Huisje Op Wielen”, has done something clever. He posted on Instagram FURIOUS that his studio had been broken into, including footage of the break-in. We see a man with a cap and a crowbar, who manages to open the studio door without using the crowbar and leaves with a keyboard. Good story!
Almost immediately the comments filled up with comments such as “hey, that’s Andy van der Meyde”, but that message did not reach Shownieuws.
A day later it turned out that this horribly brutal robbery (and on May 4 too!!1!) had been staged and that it was INDEED Andy van der Meyde. It concerned a concert in AFAS Live that was completely unrelated to burglary or football. But yes, Andy even lends himself to meat cremations with Thierry, so we are not surprised about that.
As guardians of good show aesthetics, we kept a close eye on Shownieuws in the days that followed. Would the editor on duty have been summarily dismissed? Would the editor-in-chief have gone full Matthijs on his showbiz watchers? The article and accompanying video remained unchanged.
Only on Wednesday, when everyone who could have been baited was also baited into a click, did a generous correction appear.
