It should come as no surprise that the densely populated Randstad provinces of North and South Holland are main suppliers in the list of participating artists. With 32 and 16 artists respectively, the rest of the country remains at an appropriate distance.
This also applies to our province. Due to the participation of Joost Klein, Friesland just passed us by with five participants in the Eurovision Song Contest. Utrecht also had five participants. So far, Limburg has sent 4 artists to the Eurovision Song Contest. Our province is doing better than Overijssel (3 artists). Never before has a Drenth, Flevolander, Groningen or Zeelander participated.

It has been a while since the last Limburg participation. In 2006 the Maastricht/Valkenburg girls trio performed Treble participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. They were not very successful with their song Amambanda Treble failed to qualify for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Because the three members of the group all come from Limburg, they make up three quarters of the list of Limburg artists who were once allowed to represent our country on the European stage.
The other Limburg act was even longer ago. In 2001, Venray singer and cellist Michelle Courtens participated on behalf of our country in Copenhagen. Despite her historic performance while sitting and barefoot, she also achieved few points. Courtens achieved with her number Out on my own no more than sixteen points and eighteenth place in the rankings.
With Courtens we come to the end of the (short) list of Limburg participants. Perhaps we will see another provincial member on stage next year?
