The football professionals of FC Volendam celebrated last spring because they returned to the highest level after a thirteen-year absence: the Dutch Eredivisie. But a video in which one of the players performs sexual acts is distributed throughout Volendam. Jan Smit, the new chairman of the club, is undoubtedly very upset about the issue.
A few football players have gone a bit too far during the party. People from Volendam soon heard in the corridors that not everyone would have behaved properly: for example, some players would have seduced women into sexual acts.
‘It was on a toilet’
And against the will of the women, images of the acts would have been made, reports weekly magazine Story. The whole of Volendam would have seen the images by now.
“I have seen one video,” Volendammer Kees Kwakman tells Story, one of ESPN’s football analysts. ,,That was about a player who was orally satisfied and he filmed it. It was in a toilet, I thought.”
According to Kees, the story itself is not that exciting, but it was not smart to film the actions. ,,I think that night it was indeed about several boys who were having a party with women. Not that exciting in itself, I think, but not so handy to film that of course.”
Caring for Jan
The club is in the stomach with the issue, reports the weekly. Especially for Jan Smit, the new chairman of the club who officially starts this week, it is undoubtedly a cause for concern. If the matter comes to a head, he is the one who should represent the club. A difficult period to start.
,,I sometimes speak to Jan, but he has been very busy the last week,’ says Kees. “I hope he gets some rest now and then. He puts a lot on himself, but in general what he does is going to be a success, so I’m confident.”
