The police car hit the motorcyclist when it came from the Woenselsestraat to the Dr. Cuyperslaan near the Catharina Hospital, on turned.

After the heavy collision, the police vehicle came to a stop about twenty meters from the T-junction after driving a lamppost out of the ground. The motorcyclist landed next to the car. Debris from both vehicles was scattered on the asphalt. The engine ended dozens of meters away due to the impact.

CPR was unsuccessful

Emergency services arrived at the scene, but resuscitation of the victim was of no avail. The officers in the car were unharmed.

The Zeeland-West Brabant police unit will investigate the cause of the serious accident, under the direction of the National Investigation Department. Because the police car belongs to the East Brabant unit, this unit is not allowed to interfere in that investigation. At the end of the afternoon, the police speak of a ‘remarkable police vehicle’.
