VV Jubbega will not play any more matches this season. The board of the first division has decided this.

That decision is the final part of an unprecedented soap opera. Last Tuesday, the board withdrew the Jubbega first team from the competition. Because it turned out that this had not happened in accordance with the regulations, the KNVB placed the club back in the first division I on Monday. Nevertheless, no more matches will be played, the board has now decided.

Chairman Henk Zwerver: “We have not taken this line for nothing, so we will continue. We shared this with our members last night and it went in a great atmosphere.” Jubbega has already canceled next Tuesday’s match with Broekster Boys. According to Zwerver, this will also happen with other remaining matches.

‘Understanding for letter’

On Thursday, the Jubbega players made an urgent appeal to the board, requesting that they be allowed to play out the season. Zwerver: “We understand that letter, as a player I would have agreed with it myself. But it hasn’t changed our course.”

Zwerver expects that the KNVB will still remove his club from the competition once it has canceled several matches. The cancellation of Jubbega will once again shake up the standings in the first division. Last week, d’Olde Veste’54 from Steenwijk lost the leading position as a result of Jubbega’s withdrawal.
