Central Limburg – April 26, 2024 – During the Ribbon Rain, no fewer than four tourist guides received a Royal award. Frans Jansen (Roermond), Hub Brouns (Roermond) and Piet Vinken (Echt) were appointed Member of the Order of Oranje Nassau. Rob Steenbergen (Thorn) was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau. For their many years of dedication to the promotion and preservation of the rich history and cultural heritage of Roermond, Thorn, Echt-Susteren and Stevensweert.

In addition to their enthusiastic efforts as tourist guides, the four have been involved for many years in many other local organizations such as Refugee Council, local activities such as the Culture Night in Roermond and guided tours of Lilbosch Abbey in Echt.

“The Royal award is a well-deserved recognition for these four gentlemen to the cultural heritage and tourism in the municipalities of Roermond, Maasgouw and Echt-Susteren. Their dedication and passion have not only emphasized the rich historical heritage of their hometowns, but have also conquered the hearts of countless visitors”says Hart van Limburg.
