The American army will use the port of Vlissingen for the transport of hundreds of tanks in the coming month, the Ministry of Defense reports. The Americans are supported in this by 75 Dutch soldiers who help with security. The equipment is transported by road, rail and water to the final destination Poland and Lithuania. The project is part of operation Atlantic Resolve.

Due to the project, the port of Vlissingen will be a temporary military object for the coming month. That is why, for example, no drones are allowed near the port.

Heavy equipment

A US Army brigade takes heavy equipment on a ship. According to the Ministry of Defense, the hundreds of tanks are of the M1 Abrams type. In addition to the tanks, other armored fighting vehicles and containers are also on board.

The transport is also supported by 250 American soldiers, some of whom will accompany the entire journey. All Dutch military personnel remain in the Netherlands. The project will take about a month.

In March last year, Vlissingen was also a transit port for a large shipment of American military equipment with Poland as the final destination.
