The police arrested three young people aged 13, 14 and 15 from Pijnacker on Wednesday who are suspected of assaulting an older man on the street.
A video has been circulating on social media in recent days showing that a man is walking his dog on Nobellaan on May 8 around 2.30 pm. At the height of the Einsteinlaan he comes across a group of young people, three of them then follow him.
The unsuspecting man is addressed with: ‘Sir, you look like a pig’. He looks up startled and shakes his head but just wants to keep going. However, the boys block his way. Then the man gets even more unintelligible texts thrown at his head.
As the teens approach, he tries to keep them at a distance. There is some pushing and pulling, the boys challenge him, but the man does not respond. When one of them then kicks the man, he loses his balance and falls on the street, just short of his dog. The whole incident is filmed by one of the boys.

After a bystander calls for the police, the group disperses. The video of the assault was shared on social media, prompting the police to launch an investigation. After an investigation, the police arrested a 13-year-old, 14-year-old and 15-year-old boy from Pijnacker on Wednesday.
Björn Lugthart, mayor of Pijnacker-Nootdorp, reacts with horror to the abuse: ,,The behavior of these young people is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The police immediately intervened, three suspects have now been arrested.”
